The Altar Guild
The function of the Altar Guild is to set the table, wash the dishes, dust the rail, iron the linens, polish the brass, arrange the flowers, change the frontal, and make beautiful the sanctuary of the Lord. St. Basil's is fortunate to have a strong Altar Guild. Peggy Hall now serves as Current Directress. Jeannie Carlile, the Supply Chairperson, makes sure the wafers and candles are ordered. Maxine Shaber who has served many years as Linen Chairperson, recently turned her job over to Penny Powhatan with the promise to fill in as needed. Wanda Cantrell continues to do a wonderful job as Flower Chairperson. The Guild consists of four teams, Peggy and Betty Randolph, Jeannie and Penny, Anne Austin and Danny Perry, and Maxine and Rose Marie Friend, with each serving a Sunday of each month. Claude Suse, a fully trained and qualified member of the Guild, serves as a substitute and is on call for additional help as needed.
